Poetry Task
From the twenty-fifth of February to the first of March was the
Grade Six Poetry ILT.
Poetry is a form of writing which provokes feelings
and thoughts. Poetry also makes the reader ask themselves what the poet was thinking when he or she wrote that particular poem. People write poetry because they want to sharethere feelings or thoughts on a topic such as a world.
For example, the poet would like to explain what he
thinks about the world and he would do that in a
form of his choice, whether he makes it
rhythmic or he could make it in the form of a picture.
Over the five ILT days our class researched;
- Poetry Vocabulary
- How to write poetry
- Different types of poetry
- How to understand poetry
- How to take that understanding of a poem and put it into image form
When we did the poetry ILT some of our projects included a performance of some kind such as how we had to write a poem about a subject and act it out in a team. I loved performing and creating a script it was my favourite part of the whole poetry ILT. It was probably my favourite because I have always had that flair for drama and acting.
I would say that the project I was best it would be the one where teams wrote poems about a subject and then acted them out because it was my favourite. The one I did worst in was where we were given a poem and had to draw an image relating to that poem because for some reason the poem did not inspire me. The one which was most challenging is also the worst for the same reason.
I learnt many new words to extend my vocabulary. For example, onomatopoeia is taking a real-life sound and putting it into text such as BOOM. During the span of the ILT, I also discovered a passion for writing.
So in conclusion, I had a great time.
